Old Glossop

This involved building a ten metre wall on a gradual slope, to the rear extension of a property. It was agreed with the customer to leave a small gap between the wall end and the extension to avoid issues with water tracking through the wall into the extension.  The stone was grit stone and well dressed, so it was possible to work some linear coarses into the wall construction.

There are slight variations in stone colour and shape, dependent on exposure to the weather and previous uses. I rebuilt and extended the cheekend, initially damaged by a van driver and some hasty reversing.

New Mills

This involved taking down and rebuilding a retaining garden wall, using the existing stone. I used irregular coarsing due to the shape  of the grit stone and blended the new wall into the existing wall, using the green and weathered faces of the stone, but still offering the length of the stone to the wall for strength.
